though I usually don't have the patience and dedication for heavy production video projects, I would love to. I like cinema a lot, and I think it has had a big influence in my artistic work. so I keep dreaming about making movies and video installations, and in the meantime doing some small short easy improvised videos.
*the videos can also be watched in a bigger format or full screen in youtube, if you click on them.

"Nihon Tango" (September 2008)
spontaneous video art. conceived and filmed in Tokyo, making use of personal computer, digital photo camera, the internet and conversation with friends. inspired by misunderstandings and words with multiple meanings. an attempt to continue exploring the potential and value of ambiguity. part of a series of 'side-dishes' of my trip to Japan, small semi-improvised projects for reflecting about cultural differences and the politics of the intercultural.

trailers
besides using them as a communication tool for my choreographic work, I find it interesting to work on the trailers as little video pieces in themselves. I am always curious about how certain structures and decisions help communicate, with a medium as different as the video is from that of a live performance, similar atmospheres or feelings of time and space.

"B&R&W!" (experiment 2007)
a flash animation experiment. part of research around the idea of using video as a light source, this is a short abstract animation. the idea was to create a non representational or non recognizable image that could be used as lighting. as much as I like movement that moves the light, I like ligthing in movement that moves a static body, or that distorts the movement of a moving body. and other stuff like that.

"Unravels mazes" (experiment 2006)
a small editing experiment, playing around with fragments of a film. made during a workshop at the SNDO, in Amsterdam.

"fake sleeping New Koyo " (experiment 2008)
another spontaneous small shooting experiment, playing with the camera movement. conceived and filmed in Minami Senju, Tokyo, in September 2008, using a digital photo camera.
